Principal Message
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce Juhari Devi Girls PG College, Kanpur to all the aspiring Students and their guardians. Since the inception of this great institution in 1963, its aim has been to provide quality education along with creating strong and competent women, who will always aim for excellence in their field. Situated on the right bank of the pious Ganges and the heart of city Kanpur, this institution was founded by the industrialist , social reformer and the great visionary, Late Sir Padampat Singhania who named this centre after his late grandmother Srimati Juhari Devi, which will later develop in to the support system for women in all respects.
The institute has a glorious standing of more than 59 years now and will always continue to evolve as the most reputed centre for women support and upliftment. During this time, our college has been a proud host to educational reformers, litterateur, laureates, influencers , to name a few like, Hindi poetess Mahadevi Verma, Poet & Freedom Fighter Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, the then Vice President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma , Indian Classical Dancer & Guru Sonal Mansingh.
Our institution currently provides faculty of Arts under which 15 courses at undergraduate level and 6 courses at postgraduate level are available in Literature, Social Sciences and Fine Arts . A center of Rajarshi Tondon Open University, Allahabad is also running in the college campus in which traditional UG, PG courses in various subjects along with several vocational , job-oriented and add-on courses through distance learning are provided. With this current session of 2021-2022, college has adopted new courses under New Education Policy of India including, major-minor subjects, vocational courses & co-curricular courses.
The institution is well positioned to prompt a conducive atmosphere for the development of youthful intellect into bright professionals of future. It currently hosts fully-automated library with thousands of rare books, text books, journals and periodicals. Our College is up to date in terms technological infrastructures, with facilities like O.H.P and L.C.D. presentations. We continuously run several UGC Schemes under Xth and Xlth plan period like scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, minority and economically challenged students, Network Resource Centre , Equal Opportunity Centre, Career Counseling Cell, Remedial Classes and Coaching for Entry into services for SC,ST, OBC and minority students. As per the strong and far fetched visions laid by our Late Founders, there is a great emphasis on strengthening the relationship of the students with the community and we continuously motivate them to contribute to the society. Our College has a Grievance Redressal Cell, Mahila Helpline and our students regularly participate in govt aided activities e.g. Mission Shakti, Rovers & Rangers Camp etc.
To achieve our aim of overall excellence and evolving a competent women society, our whole college staff is dedicated in, delivering academic contribution, managing day to day non-teaching activities while sharing the same vision. We all march towards this one goal with enormous zeal Because we believe in “ Education imparted by heart can bring revolution in the society”
